My new friend Andrea!

I made a friend at school, her name is Andrea and she is awesome. Almost every morning we both get to school earlier than we need to (out of habit from the beginning of the year when we DID need to get there early) and we sit and chat for like 10 minutes before staff devotions! It's basically just social time for me and her before we are with students and everyone else all day.

Anyways, she listens to Greg and Fernando on Movin' 99.7 every morning on her way to school and at the beginning of the year she told me about how awesomely funny they were and would tell me about "the good, the bad and the ugly, the three stories you need to know to get into the day". So, of course, I started listening to Greg and Fernando because Andrea listens to them. :) And now our 10 minute conversations before devotions often start with what Greg and Fernando were talking about.

The week before school got out for christmas break, Andrea told me that Greg and Fernando are going to be at the Safeway for a food drive in San Jose on Friday (the last day of school) and asked if I wanted to go visit them. Of course I said YES. I could put faces to the people I listen to every morning. The only way we could go though was to wake up and see them at 6AM so that we could make it back in time for school/morning staff devotions at 7:30AM.

So we went. And it was so awesome. I felt really creepy because 1) we woke up so early, 2) we drove a good 30 minutes and 3) I feel like we know Greg and Fernando just by listening to them every morning but they definitely don't know us.

It wasn't that awkward though and we got free t-shirts, mugs and stickers. They talked to us for a while and then we got starbucks at safeway, said goodbye and left.

Then we listened to see if they would mention us (because they had been mentioning people that dropped by all morning). They could have said that two school teachers came down to the food drive, or that two girls named Andrea and Sommer came to say hello. But NOTHING! We got no recognition. So lame.

I just wanted my name on the radio Greg.

Fernando, I talked to you for a good 5 minutes and gave you gold, GOLD (in terms of funny stories you could tell). But no. It's alright though, atleast we got to meet them and we got free stuff and starbucks (which was much needed after waking up so early and to sustain us through the entire last day of school before break.)

I'm glad I have a friend that will do these things with me at school.
